Blue
is a very specific colour and can have varying affects depending on how deep it is. Greeny-blues can have a calming affect whereas a grey-blue can be a cold colour and a deep blue is a very male dominating colour. Many people tend to use a light blue in bathrooms or kitchens as it gives an atmosphere of cleanliness.
Be cautious though as most bathrooms are deprived of light and their main source comes from a light bulb. This can therefore make the room feel cold.
Red
is a passionate colour but if overused can appear as an angry colour.
Green
is a calm and restful colour. This is a great colour for bedrooms and rooms of rest.
Yellow
, whether pale or bright can have an uplifting effect. The pale is great for an instant lift without being overpowering and can be used in all rooms. For brighter yellows, a kitchen is probably the only room it can be used in.
Orange
Brown
is a fantastic neutral colour.
However, if you use very dark browns it could make the room feel small and dark.
Perhaps painting one or two walls or using the colour as a border would be the best option. This colour can work very well in dining rooms or living rooms.
